AT&T was hosting a hackathon sponsored by IBM, Twilio, and Nuance Mix, and we were to create apps using any or all of the sponsored products. Our team identified that people seem to have trouble keeping up with their gym goals, giving up midway.
We created an app that will help the user accomplish their goal(s) by being held accountable by their friends and family.
In a seven person team of designers and developers, I was the lead screen designer and ux researcher.

One of our competitors called Plant Nanny stood out to us the most. Below are screenshots of Plant Nanny.
From our research, Plant Nanny used the simplicity of their idea and design to their advantage. The purpose of the app is for the user to drink more water to keep the plants alive. Depending on the user's body weight and preference, the amount of water intake can be changed. The downside seemed to be the banner ads. Many users found it intrusive and they gave negative feedback.
This is a "happy path" userflow, with the first time user in mind.
